No Sweat: a Driclor dupe?

Sweat is our body's natural way of cooling down but let's all admit that apart from body odor, armpit sweat stains are soo unattractive, yes?

For years I've been a staunch user of Driclor, a strong anti-perspirant manufactured by Stiefel Laboratories which contains  Aluminium Chlorohydrate as its active ingredient. I've been using it for almost 3 years mainly because I don't want to bother with applying deodorant each and every single day. With proper use (please read the leaflet enclosed, I cannot stress this enough!) I can go on for 2 months with just 1 single application.

The only downside is, it has so be used properly and sparingly because Driclor and really irritate your skin and cause itchiness. There are also specific instructions like avoiding shaving, plucking or waxing 24-48 hours before and after application. It's pretty strong stuff, I tell ya, but the comfort of not having to think about perspiration or staining your clothes is pretty good for me so I make do.

My Driclor was set to expire last month, and it was really timely that JTomas Collections sent me their newest product aptly called No Sweat. I was advised that it is gentler than Driclor and contains less of the Aluminium Chlorohydrate. It also guarantees no sting nor itchiness, unlike Driclor.

J.Tomas Body Solutions' NO SWEAT spray is a gentle hydro alcohol solution for excessive sweating of the armpits, chest, back, hands, and feet. At 60% concentration of aluminum chlorhydrate, it keeps skin dry for long hours.
Directions:
1. Ensure that the affected areas are totally dry before spraying with J.Tomas Body Solutions No Sweat.
2. Preferably spray on sweat prone areas after bath. Use sparingly everyday.
3. Do not spray on irritated skin or areas with open wound.
4. Ideal for all skin types.
Price: Php 88.00/50ml
Off the bat, the instructions says I should use this everyday. But of course, I chose not to to be able to check if it really can replace my loyal Driclor.

What I like:

  • very affordable! It's sells for Php 88/50ml while Driclor is a whopping Php 800+/60ml
  • I definitely did not experience any sting or irritation
  • economical, 1 full spray per underarm is enough for me
  • controls sweating
  • did not darken my 'pits

What I don't like:

  • I prefer roll-ons compared to sprays because I have poor aiming skillz
  • the sprayer may clog over time, to avoid this make sure to replace cap after use
  • controls sweat/perspiration in my underarms for a maximum of 2 weeks (give or take depending on how much you sweat)
  • the floral scent may be too strong for some, I really prefer unscented stuff
  • may leave a white powdery film if you overspray
  • sprayer can be inconsistent

Conclusion: It's no Driclor but the No Sweat Anti-perspirant deodorant can effectively control sweat/perspiration without the itchiness or sting that the former gives. Having to apply it every 2 weeks may be cumbersome, but am happy that No Sweat is a cheaper and more economical alternative. And anyway, it says it has to be used everyday on the label.

Please note that my experience may be different from yours since I don't sweat too much. And it is not as potent as Driclor, FYI.

Tips:

  • Aim then press hard! If you don't, the sprayer may let our a stream instead of a spray
  • I spray this before I go to bed so I don't have to deal with the white powdery finish in the morning while dressing up.
  • Spray in front of a mirror if you have poor aiming skills like moi, haha.

This product is available in Watsons for only Php 88.00 but is always sold out, so if you are in dire need of a good antiperspirant you can also order through https://www.facebook.com/JTomasCollections

    1. Hi! It should last you months because you don't have to spray everyday (I only spray once every 2 weeks). Although it really depends on how much you sweat in the first place. I guess it would last about 3 months or longer :)

  4. pwede ba ang product sa face? kasi madalas akong pinagpapawisan sa mukha... do you know any product for the face? para hindi masyadong magpawis? please

    1. Hi again bulakday! My face also perspires but I don't really use any product to counteract that. My facial skin is sensitive and I try to limit the products I use on it. Sorry can't help you on this. But you can try to check online for reviews :)

    2. Don't try to spray this one on your face, or you'll just irritate your face! It may cause you allergies, and for heaven's sake, it has Aluminium Chlorohydrate! It's a strong chemical, that should not be used on the face! But anyway there's a product called facial antiperspirant wipes, although I haven't tried it personally yet, but there's a lot of reviews of different good brands of this type, na you could give a try, just do a good research on this, so you'll know what brands are worth trying for and effective. Ung mga ganitong type of antiperspirant, specifically for the face, siguro contains a milder content of antiperspirant agents, that would not cause irritation to the face. :)

    1. Hi Jerome! Akala ko 44 days talaga! Haha!

I think you can try 2-3 sprays just to make sure that the area is coated well? If this doesn't work for you, I would really recommend Driclor, there's a smaller bottle selling for only P350. In terms of controlling sweat, Driclor is really my best bet :)

Please update me and let me know if No Sweat works for you :)

  8. Hello Kira! :)

Today's my 2nd day of using No Sweat. I only spray it at night after bath, and okay naman siya. It did control the sweating, but not that totally as how driclor does. Maybe because of the lesser content of Aluminium Chlorohydrate it has than of driclor's.

Kaya bumili muna ako ng No Sweat as an alternative, habang hinihintay kong dumating ung package.

Thanks pala for posting about this product. It's good kase na may mga nagpopost ng review about this certain products for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). Kase many of us has this uncommon medical condition, and yung iba kaunti ang kaalaman about the treatments for this. Usually kasi masyadong pricey ang mga solutions for this, such as Driclor. Kaya it's good to know that there's some product such as No Sweat na mura and effective.

:) more power to your blog!

Thanks Jerome for your wonderful comments, I'm so glad my blog was able to help you :) Just email if you need anything else :)

  9. Awesome and helpful blog! Those 15 bottles of small Driclor at Mercury Trinoma? All gone. I was just there the other other day and the lady assisting me said it was sold out. Since I really wanted to try it out, I opted to dole out the whopping 800+. Too bad I read this blog too late or I would have gone for the No Sweat alternative. In any case, I'll give both a try. Thanks much for sharing your input!

    1. Hi Tari! I think with how potent Driclor is, you'll get a good 2 years (or more) out of that full-sized bottle. So not bad! You're guaranteed no sweat! Just don't go overboard with the application -- remember, apply only a thin veil -- as too much might give you itchy underarms ;)

  17. Hi guys, i just wanna ask if how did you apply driclor step by step before going to sleep and what you've done after waking up in the morning. I just feel so frustrated because I've been using driclor for about two months from now and no signs of effectivity is there. My hands and feet still sweats allot. It is usually compared to a melting ice..a quick reply would be very helpful.

  43. Hi, Ive been battling with sweaty underarm since high school, but just shrug it off cause I dont have body odor anyway. Recently, our weather has been horrendous, sobrang inet! its as if Satan is stoking the fires of hell..I change clothes 3 times a day, and i thought "enough is enough!" so I researched about an effective anti-perspirant, went through reviews and-whatnot and found Driclor to be the best choice, but one thing that is holding me back from trying i that, I didn't find a testimonial or review about its effect on skin, I want a dry underams but ofcourse I dont want to bear with the stigma of having dark underarms. Author, I read that youve been using the product for years now.. could you please let me know please if the product darkens underarm? I hope to hear from you soon. :) Thanks

    1. Hi Rheia,

Thanks for your question. I use Driclor twice a month (this summer has been crazy hot!!!) and I always apply a thin layer because Driclor irritates the skin if you apply too much. I apply before I go to bed.

Driclor did not give me dark underarms. Please note that I only wax, I don't shave and I use a mild lightening bath soap to even out my skin tone. I don't apply any whitening creams to my underarms.

That's it! For me, Driclor is really my savior because it helps keep me fresh and I really don't like those dreaded sweat stains and/or white roll-on stains :)

    1. Good day! So im back to update you guys about how No sweat Antiperspirant worked on me. I applied it last night after taking a shower and no noticeable sweating happened. Just a litte moisture on my left underarm hehe. But on the right, it is totally dry, maybe I just applied unequal amount on my pits. This morning after I took a bath, I applied again then after how many hours, I can feel that I am sweating again pero minimal lang hindi katulad noon na sobrang pawisin ako. This product do not totally dries my pits but it can control the sweating pero okay naman siya to a first time user like me. I haven't tried any strong Antiperspirants before like driclor but I planned to use it pero wala akong mahanap at ang mahal mahal nung driclor. Pero sobrang thankful ako at nahanap ko to.
