I was part of fashion history!: The New Glorietta Vibe Launch

Two weeks ago Liz sent me an email asking if I would be interested to join Ayala x AVA's attempt to break the record of having 2,500 models walk the runway for the launch of Glorietta's new wing. I hesitated and declined, my reason being that runways aren't my thing (I am quite shy and self-conscious beyond belief) and if I trip, it would be recorded in history for all the world to see.

Liz persisted. She texted and messaged me on Facebook every.single.day. Really, really. A week before November 29th, Liz's persistence paid off as I finally said yes on one condition: that someone had to apply makeup on me because for the love of God, I can only apply foundation, lipstick and eyebrow pencil. Thankfully, Mira Villanueva of Estee Lauder agreed to do makeup for the bloggers. Whew, what a lifesaver.

Now, my problem was the dress. We were required to be in all black, and I didn't want to look like a plain Jane so I scoured Greenhills and found this lovely black A-line (perfect!) dress with a sheer panelled skirt (more on this later). Since Ferretti was sponsoring the shoes, it was great that I was also able to choose the wedge that I wanted. So everything was basically falling into place.

On the day of the event, I took half a day off work and rushed to Glorietta and had lunch with Marbbie and Krissy. I wasn't nervous yet at this time, I just wanted to get this over with.

First up, makeup. Our peg was natural and clean, and Clinique was the perfect makeup brand for this. Here's Junnel doing my makeup:

Junnel mixed 2 shades of the Pore Refining and Even Better liquid foundations in order to get a warm beige shade. He says since our skin is never just one shade all over, mixing 2 different tones is necessary in order to create the "perfect" hue. Then he patted the formula onto my skin using a wedge sponge to create that matte powdery finish.

a multitude of Clinique products
the perfect base
adding a natural smokey eye using pink, chocolate, and gold eyeshadows
smokey eye + eyeliner = my eyes look bigger!
Now that makeup is done, off I was to change into my runway clothes....

Dress: Shopbop | Ribbon belt: Zara | Lacey Wedges: Ferretti

After this, we all headed to the holding area where we waited for the show to start at 6:30pm. We then walked to Palm Drive where the actual event was happening, and then waited for our turns.

Alas, I do not have a photo of myself on the actual catwalk (will have to grab that from a fellow blogger soon) It was funny that I got nervous 1 minute before I walked on stage. Clammy hands - check, increased heartbeat - check! Oh my. Thank you, Earth, for the photo above!

We were supposed to walk for at least 15-20 seconds and pose in front for 4 seconds, but I saw some friends upfront and I WAVED! Can you believe it?! I don't think I will be able to find a decent photo of myself on the catwalk on this very momentous occasion because I waved to my friends. How showbiz! Haha!

But you know what? We beat the world record! Hooray! 2,255 models walked the runway and the Philippines has made fashion history! (Pssst....just in case it makes any difference, I was #1658) We beat Istanbul's previous record of 1,967 models.

Congratulations to the organizers and to everyone who walked! Woohoo!

Overall, it was a really a good feeling to finally walk the runway (this is my first!) wearing my favorite shoe brand together with awesome fellow bloggers :)

Thank you to Clinique for makeup and Ferretti for my shoes. Kudos to Liz for handling such a fun event, and thank you for asking (nay, pleading) me to walk a gazillion times! It was worth it! :)

    1. HI Micmic! Thank you! :) The wedges are so comfy, I could walk in them the whole day. I'm very finicky with my shoes because I have small feet and my skin blisters easily, so this pair was really an awesome find :)
