Mochiko is now in Glorietta and SM North Edsa!

Last year I blogged about my favorite mochi dessert of all time which I found while nonchalantly looking for stuff to buy in Mercato Centrale. I haven't had the time to go visit Mercato again, and I totally forgot about Mochiko until I got a craving recently (more specifically, after I tried Ma Maison's Green Tea Mochi).

After a quick web search, I discovered that I didn't have to travel to The Fort to get my fix as they conveniently set up shop in Glorietta (and SM North Edsa, yippee!) already. That same day, I rushed to Glorietta immediately after work, I couldn't wait to dig my teeth into their creamy caramel ice cream and munch on their chewy mochi.

Voted by Yummy Magazine as one of the "50 Best Desserts of 2012", I'm happy that Mochiko is finally available for everyone to try! This is their stall in Food Choices, Glorietta 4:

Mochiko offers their mochi ice cream balls in an assortment of flavors, but my favorite still remains: I purchased 2 Caramel Mochis (Php 70 each) and ate both within 30 minutes. Sheer bliss!

Their sweet caramel ice cream is enveloped by a layer of mochi which gives it an interesting gummy texture. The caramel ice cream also has small pieces of "yema" (at least I think it is yema) for added flavor.

Good things come to those who wait: since a Mochiko ball is frozen, you have to wait about 5 minutes before you can take a bite. Trust me, the waiting is worth it.
