With all the layers of makeup, skin care, and gunk that bombards our face every day, we need to spike up our skin care routine regularly. Aside from the usual cleanse-tone-moisturize and bi-monthly facials, another good way to improve, detox, or boost moisture in skin is to use a mask.

I’ve favored detox masks more than anything, especially since my complexion is more on the combination type with somewhat oily T-zone. I am currently enjoying Ella Naturals’ Active Charcoal Mask made by fellow blogger, Gellie Abogado.

If you’re my Instagram contact (if not, go ahead and follow me at @kirasworld), no doubt you’ve seen my IG stories applying the mask and making fun of myself once to twice a week. Lovely playlist courtesy of my Spotify, of course.

Here are the key ingredients of this all-natural charcoal mask:

  • Activated charcoal – a natural deep cleanser and detoxifier, it brings toxins to the surface revealing skin smooth and exfoliated.
  • Witch Hazel extract – functions as a skin conditioning agent that makes skin supple
  • Tea tree oil – a known antiseptic that helps prevent pimples

My twice a week ritual (I am on my 6th week) helped clear up blemishes and dry up existing pimples. Use this with the famed Pixi Glow Tonic for a fabulous facial of sorts. Purify + glow = winner. But a word of caution: don’t go overboard (I know it’s hard to resist, applying this mask is F-U-N!) as it can dry up skin. Stick to once a week if you have sensitive or reactive skin.

Stay tuned for more Ella Naturals releases in the coming months!
